AS A PRACTITIONER

AS A PRACTITIONER
↘︎ MY JOURNEY
A journey from paste-up, to enterprise products, and many things between.

Starting out when paste-up was still a thing, and digital was merely a dream.

For me, UX and Product Design are an accumulation of experience and respect, for multiple skills sets. Which takes time, passion and experience to obtain.

To be clear, you will never hear me claiming to be either a unicorn, or the best at any individual specialism - There is always someone better. However, I do know, I aim to be the very best I can. Which results in offering the best version of myself, at all times.

I have gained a rather broad respect and experience in the following. Mainly achieved by walking in a variety of shoes. This provides an authentic ability to view projects through many different lenses.

-
Brand
-
Consideration of both user and business goals
-
Information Architecture
-
Taxonomy
-
Workflow / Journey
-
Interaction
-
UI (Components, Layout, Styling, Accessibility, Visual hierarchy, motion etc)
-
Content (Taxonomy, messaging, notifications, labelling, help etc)
-

-
Opportunity for Marketing and Promotion (often overlooked. Although it can be of benefit to both user and business)

Much more to me than UX

I have a background in brand, print, POS, web, online advertising, employer branding and recruitment advertising. Which allows me to view projects, through multiple lenses. Along with having a great deal of respect and empathy for each skill.

Gez, SAFe Fellow
"Mike was an absolute pleasure to work alongside. He really knows his stuff but is always open to discussing and learning more. He provides incredibly insightful, constructive and intelligent challenges that make you raise your own game, which I hugely appreciated.
He gets stuff done superbly well and yet always takes time to lift others up around him too.
Above all else, he was a genuinely lovely human being to work alongside amongst all of this. I have zero hesitation in recommending him. I'd love to work with him again one day."
